Privacy & Terms

Effective date: 16 September 2026

This policy explains how MOVRIVAR collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data when you use our marketplace as a customer, operator, fleet or business. It is written in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and internationally recognised data protection principles, including the EU GDPR.

1. Who we are and how to contact us

MOVRIVAR ("MOVRIVAR", "we", "us") is a UK-based online marketplace that connects customers with independent operators, fleet companies and international carriers to move, deliver, drive, tow, recover and ship goods and vehicles. For the purposes of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, MOVRIVAR is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

You can contact us at any time through the Help Centre in the MOVRIVAR app or website. We aim to respond to all privacy requests within one month, as required by law.

2. Personal data we collect

Account data: your name, email address, phone number, password (stored only as a secure hash) and account preferences.

Booking and shipment data: pickup and delivery addresses, postcodes, contact details, goods or vehicle descriptions, photos you upload, scheduled dates and times, delivery PINs and handover records (mileage and fuel level for vehicle moves).

Location data: if you use live tracking features, we collect and display GPS location data for the driver or operator during an active job, and device location data where you have granted permission.

Operator compliance data: if you register as an operator or fleet, we collect licence details and photos, insurance details, vehicle documents and business registration information, as required to verify you before you can accept work.

Payment data: payments are processed securely by Stripe. We never store your full card details; we retain transaction references, amounts and payout records for accounting and dispute purposes.

Technical data: IP address, device and browser information, and usage data collected through cookies and similar technologies.

Communications: records of your messages, support requests and notifications.

3. How and why we use your data (lawful bases)

To provide the service (contract): creating your account, matching you with operators, processing bookings and payments, tracking deliveries and releasing operator payouts.

To meet legal obligations (legal obligation): verifying operator licences and insurance, keeping accounting and tax records, preventing fraud and complying with law enforcement requests where legally required.

For our legitimate interests (legitimate interests): keeping the marketplace safe and trustworthy, fraud prevention, service improvement and aggregate analytics — always balanced against your rights.

With your consent (consent): non-essential cookies, marketing communications and location tracking on your device. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We use strictly necessary cookies to run the service and keep you signed in, and analytics cookies to understand how the app is used. You can manage or refuse non-essential cookies through your browser or device settings; doing so will not prevent you from using the core booking service.

5. Who we share your data with

Operators and fleets: the operator assigned to your job receives the details reasonably needed to complete it (names, contact details, addresses, goods or vehicle information).

International carriers and customs authorities: for international shipments, recipient and contents data is shared with the selected carrier and, where required, customs authorities of the countries involved.

Payment providers: Stripe and connected banking services, to process payments and payouts (including Stripe Connect accounts for operators).

Service providers: hosting, mapping, analytics and communication providers who process data only on our instructions.

Authorities and legal claims: where we are legally required or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

We never sell your personal data.

6. International data transfers

Because MOVRIVAR offers international shipping, some personal data may be transferred outside the UK. Any such transfer is made only where an adequacy decision applies, or under the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) / EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum, together with appropriate supplementary safeguards. Transfers are limited to what is necessary to deliver your shipment.

7. How long we keep your data

Account data is kept while your account is active. Booking, payment and compliance records are kept for up to 6 years after completion where needed for tax, accounting and legal claim purposes. Tracking location data is kept only while a job is active and for a short period afterwards for disputes. You may request deletion of your account at any time; some records may be retained where the law requires.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR and equivalent international laws (including the EU GDPR and, where applicable, CCPA-style access and deletion rights), you have the right to:

  • Be informed about how your data is used (this policy)
  • Access a copy of your data (data portability where applicable)
  • Ask us to rectify inaccurate data
  • Ask us to erase your data (right to be forgotten)
  • Restrict or object to certain processing
  • Withdraw consent for consent-based processing
  • Object to decisions made purely by automated means
  • Complain to a supervisory authority (the ICO in the UK)

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection (ico.org.uk). If you are in the EU/EEA you may contact your local data protection authority instead.

9. Children

MOVRIVAR is not directed at children. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or book services. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls and secure payment processing. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we review our safeguards regularly and notify you and the ICO of any notifiable data breach in accordance with the law.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the law or our services. The current version is always available in the app, with its effective date shown above. Significant changes will be highlighted to you in the app.
